Residents of Jimenez province expressed their displeasure with a video filmed inside the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist by a female content creator or vlogger named Thine Medalla.

Additionally, the archbishop reminded everyone to honor and respect sacred things.

CBCP Executive Secretary Fr. Jerome Secillano has identified the female vlogger who is currently facing intense criticism from church devotees.

He stated : “I don’t think na may sira sa ulo ‘yan. Ang assumption natin dito ginawa niya’ yun for content.”

The priest stated that the content creator’s act of spitting on the holy water within the church constituted profanity and disrespect.

He added : “It is a form of desecration, yung duraan mo ‘yung isang sacred object. Malamang na ang ganitong mga gawain ay bunsod nga na gustong sumikat sa social media, may content ka, dumami ‘yung viewers mo.”

Vlogger Thine Medalla’s side of her story.

Female vlogger Thine Medalla released a statement following the viral video in which she was accused of spitting on a container of holy water at a church.

According to Thine, in an interview with News 5, she did not spit on the holy water container and never intended to perform such an act.

Thine Medalla claimed that she didn’t spit but simply gazed at the holy water container and made a wish. The vlogger also asserted that she couldn’t defile a church solely for the sake of gaining views.

She explained : “Kumuha ako ng sobre tapos binalik ko kaagad tapos tumingin ako sa holy water kasi nag-wish ako doon sa holy water.

“Hindi ko po gagawin ‘yon para lang for the views… hindi po ako masamang tao,” she added.

The Parish Church of St. John the Baptist in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, is currently closed to the public due to this incident.

However, after receiving strong criticism from netizens and churchgoers, the vlogger promptly removed the video from her social media.
