Origin of backlash.

The backlash against Xian Gaza occurred after he made a controversial claim on Facebook on Wednesday, August 13.

He made a claim that one member of the group BINI was sexually active. This statement drew widespread criticism, with many online users accusing Gaza of perpetuating sexualization and harassment of women.

Gaza posted : “Mga Gen Z, okay lang makipag-kantutan as long as gumagamit kayo palagi ng condom upang hindi makabuo. Lalong-lalo na doon sa isang member ng BINI na sobrang palaiyot.”

Xian Gaza has turned off the comments of his post.

Online users are urging in a tweet that a case must be filed, and a warrant must be served to hold Gaza accountable for his actions.

They Tweet : “This guy has crossed far too many boundaries. calling on [BINI’s] management to take legal action and file criminal charges against this clout-chasing guy,”

Case to be filed?

On Thursday night, August 14, celebrity lawyer Josabeth Alonso (@AttyJoji) shared an Instagram Story revealing that the BINI camp had filed a complaint against an unidentified party.

The post included the full names of all eight BINI members, but it did not mention any names or other details regarding the complaint.

Alonso shared a cropped image of the complaint’s first page on Instagram Stories.

The image displayed the names of the complainants: Gwen, Aiah, Sheena, Mikha, Maloi, Jhoanna, Stacey, and Colet. However, she refrained from providing any further details about the nature of the case or the identity of the respondent.

Social media users speculated that the complaint might be directed towards Gaza.

The stars were born.

BINI’s journey commenced in 2018 when ABS-CBN initiated nationwide auditions for its new training program, Star Hunt Academy. This program adopted a trainee system inspired by the K-Pop idol training approach.

From thousands of hopefuls, approximately 250 were selected for a bootcamp, which was further narrowed down to 12 trainees in 2019. Eventually, eight final members were chosen: Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena.

From 2019 to 2020, the members underwent rigorous training in singing, dancing, and performance. They were mentored by Filipino coaches such as Kitchy Molina, who provided vocal training, and Mickey Perz, who taught them dance.

Additionally, they received guidance from South Korean trainers from MU Doctor Academy.

‘Da Coconut Nut’.

Before their official debut, BINI released a pre-debut single titled “Da Coconut Nut” on November 20, 2020.

This lively electropop rendition served as their public introduction and generated significant anticipation for their launch.

BINI officially debuted on June 11, 2021, with their empowering single “Born to Win.” The name “BINI” is inspired by the Tagalog word “binibini,” which means “young lady.”

This name symbolizes a modern Filipina who embodies qualities such as sweetness, fierceness, independence, and awareness.

After their debut, BINI rapidly gained popularity and earned the title “Nation’s Girl Group.” This recognition was attributed to their chart-topping singles, impressive streaming performance, and significant cultural influence.
