A teenager in Pangasinan tragically drowned after a prank turned out to be disastrous.

A 15-year-old boy, Christoefer de Guzman, tragically drowned in the Old Mangaldan River in Mangaldan, Pangasinan.

The incident occurred when De Guzman, who was playing with three friends, fell into the river after one of his friends allegedly tickled him.

According to a witness, De Guzman was holding onto a metal bridge handle when the tickling incident occurred.

His grip on the handle subsequently weakened, leading to his fall into the river.

A witness Lea Caballero said : “Nakakapit siya, kaya lang kiniliti, kaya ayun, nahulog na siya.”

Lucresia Lozada, his grandmother, is deeply saddened by his passing.

“Humihingi siya ng bente pesos sa akin tapos ‘yun na pala ang huling kita ko. Mahal na mahal ko ang [apo] ko,”

“Palagi kong sinasabi sa kanya na umiwas na siya sa mga barkada niya kasi makulit ang apo ko, pero kahit ganun, mahal na mahal ko ang apo ko.” Lucresia Lozada said.

The rescue operation encountered significant challenges due to the presence of strong currents.

It took approximately four hours to locate Christoefer and extract his body from the water.

The police have initiated a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the 18-year-old male who is alleged to have tickled De Guzman.
