Mommy Dionisia, the mother of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, and her boyfriend of 12 years, Michael Yamson, have already bought wedding rings.

They are getting married soon.
Mommy Dionisia, 76, discussed this topic in an interview with Bernadette Sembrano, which was aired on Sunday, August 10, on the broadcaster’s YouTube channel.
Dionisia shared : “May plano kami. Mayroon na ring wedding ring.”
During the interview, the couple expressed their deep love for each other and addressed the criticisms they’ve faced for their 26-year age gap.
Mike stated : “Minsan below the belt at mga grabeng salita pero hindi ko na pinapansin. Hindi ko na iniinda ‘yan,”
Mike Yamson admitted he is still accused by some that he is supposedly only after Mommy Dionisia’s money.
Mike expressed his love to Mommy Dionisia : “Honey, lagi akong nasa tabi mo, mamahalin ka, aalagaan ka at tatanggapin ang kasungitan mo sa araw-araw.”
Meeting Sparks Connection.
Their story began in February 2014 when Michael (Mike) Yamson, a seaman from Iloilo, met Dionisia “Mommy D” Pacquiao at a videoke bar in the city during the Sweetheart’s Day celebration.
Captivated by Dionisia’s performance, he mustered the courage to approach a bodyguard and request a photo with her.
During their handshake, he discreetly slipped a handwritten note containing his number into Dionisia’s hand.
She messaged him the following night, which led to a call at approximately 11:30 p.m. Just days later, they went on their first date. By February 20, they had officially become a couple.
Overcoming Criticism Together.
From the beginning, their relationship was met with skepticism and criticism, primarily because of the substantial age gap—Mommy D was in her 60s, while Mike was in his late 30s at the time—and the assumption that Mike was pursuing Dionisia’s money.
In response, Mike defended himself by emphasizing that his intentions were genuine. He aspired to “sail again and earn my own money” to demonstrate his sincerity.
Their relationship flourished and celebrated its 10th anniversary on February 20, 2024.
Mike shared heartfelt tributes on social media, including a Reel where he expressed his love and gratitude to Mommy D on their 10th anniversary of being together. He wished them a happy anniversary and thanked the Lord for their relationship.
Mike captioned : “Happy 10th year anniversary of being together. Maraming Salamat. Thank you, Lord.”
In August 2025, the couple expressed their emotional readiness to tie the knot, revealing during an interview that they already have a wedding ring.
Mike’s heartfelt vow to Mommy D—“Patunayan ko sa ’yo, kamatayan lang hiwalayan natin. Sino man ang mauna sa atin, kamatayan lang makapaghihiwalay sa atin.”—resonated deeply with many people.
